The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) develops and implements policies that affect many government agencies and help other federal agencies improve their service to and communication with the public by offering effective citizen-response tools and services.
GSA's Interagency Resources Management Conference (IRMCO) helps fulfill the agency's educational responsibility by gathering government policy and management experts together to inform senior managers about initiatives critical to their leadership positions. IRMCO is developed in concert with members of policy-making organizations such as the Office of Management and Budget as well as Councils such as the Chief Information Officers, Chief Financial Officers, Chief Acquisition Officers, and Chief Human Capital Officers Councils. Certified sessions at IRMCO also offer program management continuous learning credits for updating critical skills.
GSA's goals for IRMCO are to:
- Share the most current thinking about policies and strategies of the current Administration;
- Help executives in achieving their agencies' mission and objectives; and
- Create a network of peers within the executive realm of government in order to foster interagency knowledge sharing, coordination and collaboration.
Senior managers attend IRMCO for the following reasons:
- The program content and speaker selection are developed by GSA and senior government leaders to directly address the needs of a government executive;
- The April dates for IRMCO permit policy discussions concerning the budget;
- IRMCO conferees are only government, thus permitting a candid and open dialogue among peers;
- Presentations by public sector executives provide vital policy direction;
- Recognition of achievement is applauded through the prestigious IRMCO awards, CIO Council Leadership Awards, and Service to the Citizens Awards;
- The conference location is a short 90 minutes from the Washington DC area for minimal travel disruption for speakers and attendees alike;
- Senior managers interact throughout the conference and learn from other conferees; and Continuous learning credits are offered to maintain accreditation.
