Government Going Green
Federal agencies spend more than $10 billion every year on energy-hungry equipment and the federal government is the largest single consumer of energy in the world, according to the US DoE. Information technology products make-up a significant portion of these expenses: federal data centers and server equipment alone consume approximately 6 billion kWh annually, or about $450 million each year. Recent federal mandates require agencies to reduce energy consumption and purchase “green” products that are energy efficient and environmentally-friendly. What are you doing to address skyrocketing energy costs and the environmental impact of your IT purchases? Join us for this important discussion and learn about the regulations and technology solutions that are helping Government to Go Green.

Learning from Experience: A Line of Business Update
Shared services are a viable and proven approach in the Federal sector. The key question has shifted from whether to move to shared services, to how to improve the readiness of my organization for change, what services to employ and how to ensure the move is done well. A wide range of shared services are in use that include the operation and administration of the system but also services for processing core transactions and generating reports. Senior leaders will engage in a dialog on what the true value proposition is, what it takes to achieve these gains and what they need to do to position themselves for success. Leaders from all management disciplines are encouraged to join the dialog on how to enhance the probability of success and head off or navigate the bumps along the way.

CXO Collaboration: Differing Perspectives
With government agencies having fewer resources and more oversight, how can they achieve results----by focusing on relationships. A collaborative relationship between agency CXOs is imperative for achieving those results. Within a federal agency, the CXOs are key to success. Their functions are cross-cutting across all program support areas, and the support they provide to the program offices are key to agency results and success. Individually, CXOs can be very effective, but by collaborating, they can effect change and improvement in all aspects of an agency

Government 2.0: Rebooting the Public Square

Leaders in government are recognizing the benefits of technology-enabled collaboration. Collaboration on a mass scale is set to change every institution in society, including (and perhaps especially) our government. But what do we really mean by “Government 2.0”, and what are the implications for culture, security, governance and policy?

Join us for a moderated panel session in which you will hear from leaders who are embracing web 2.0 technologies to connect with citizens, engage their stakeholders, and solve their most pressing business problems. As a participant, you will have the opportunity to ask the panel thought-provoking questions and listen as they discuss the future of web 2.0 in the public sector, the lessons they've learned in adopting these innovative approaches, and the long term implications for the way we are governed.
